"Nel secolo scorso diverse polemiche furono fatte pro e contro l'atttribuzione di questo lavoro all'Ariosto, e significatamente in merito all'annunzio del manoscritto originale, che doveva essere stato scritto di pugno di messer Lodovico...Nel sec. XX, e precisamente qualche anno fa, forse perché quasi più nessuno crede a tale attribuzione ed autenticità, sempre il manoscritto del Rinaldo Ardito è stato, da un libraio, munificamente donato alla R.
