This peripheral routes were included as part of a broader theme of travel within in the United States. The maps were included in "Appleton's Railroad and Steamboat Companion Being a Travel Companion Through New England and the Middle States." The maps are finely engraved with remarkable detail. The Old Colony runs from Boston in the upper left to Plymouth in the lower right. The Fall River RR runs from Cohasset to Four Corners. On the Fall River map the rr runs from Four Corners to Fall River. The Trenton Branch of the New Bedford and Taunton Railroad diagonally bisects the map crossing the Fall River RR in the middle of the map. This is a very nice engraving and comes with an acid free mat. D. Appleton & Co unknown
