1881003517S. Marks and Sons. An A6 printed memorial card for Benjamin Disraeli bordered in black with his head embossed; in black it is titled 'In Memoriam - Earl of Beaconsfield K.G. Born in the year 1804. Died April 19th 1881 with a poem by H.B. Worth author of 'Stray Leaves'; published by S. Marks and Sons 72 Houndsditch London; in excellent near fine condition with very little wear to speak of barring tiny nibbles to one corner and the bottom edge. The Earldom of Beaconsfield was made specifically for Benjamin Disraeli by Queen Victoria in 1876 and as a town in Buckinghamshire a borough he represented throughout his parliamentary life it seemed apt. There have since been no others given the honour. He was twice prime minister firstly in 1868 and then an eventful period between 1874 and 1880 a year before his political annihilation at the polls and then death a year later. There is not a lot known about the publishers other than it published a series of 'in memoriam' cards for famous figures of the time including General Gordon of Khartoum. Due to the ephemeral nature of the cards and presumed relatively small print runs they don't appear in commerce often. . Very Good. Soft cover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1881. S. Marks and Sons paperback

1837bdagBaudry's European Library Paris 1837. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 330 pages complete. First continental edition published same year as in London. Disraeli's name does not appear. Á semi-autobiographical novel this was Disraeli's first real success as a novelist. It was sometimes described as the 'most perfect love story'. This edition even taking its age into account is in the most charming condition. Gentle kind and generous-spirited. Marbled boards leather spine. The boards are worn benign gently-aged. The spine has gilt titling again no author name with gilt ridging. It is clubbable. Within the fore and end papers are marbled. The front pastedown has an ex-libris plate indicating ownership by the Belgian gentlewoman Blanche Woodville Day. A direct descendant of the Woodvilles the dynasty that founded the Tudor line. The contents are most pleasant. There are printer marks at the foot of pages. The pages do have some occasional marks but the overwhelming feel and aspect of the book is most pleasingly romantic and amiable. The pages are clean clear comfortable assured and contented. The book may be read with trembling pleasure and happiness. Oh! happy owner! fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services. Baudry's European Library, Paris hardcover
