The text block of the book has sagged so there is slight wear to the bottom edge. Out of an abundance of modesty I am grading this book merely VG. Jacket presents well with slight chipping and wear to the spine ends and flap fold edges. There is also minor soiling to the jacket which overall if VG.This gorgeous deluxe reprint edition of the Covici Friede Canterbury Tales is both beautifully bound and illustrated. Don't let the copyright page confuse things - this is published by Garden City. Although not the true first after reviewing online photos of the original I greatly prefer the binding choices for this Garden City edition. This is a really beautiful book and it's hard to convey its aesthetic impact with words and pictures. Garden City Publishing Co. hardcover

He states that of numerous facsimiles the 1975 edition by The Basilisk Press is "heads and shoulders above the rest . it is an astonishing recreation." This Folio Society edition used the personal copy of the proprietor of The Basilisk Press to create this reproduction.
