ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Prof. Muzaffar Assadi b.1961 is currently working as Professor of Political Science at the Department of Political Science University of Mysore. He graduated from Mangalore university and later on did his M. Phil and PhD from JNU and postDoctorate from University of Chicago. He is the author of ten books and more than two hundred articles in different edited volumes and journals such as Journal of Peasant Studies Economic and Political weekly. Chinese Public Administration Review Indian Journal of secularism etc. Before joining University of Mysore as Reader and later on as Professor he served at Mangalore and Goa universities as Lecturer. He is a distinguished Rockefeller Fellow at Chicago University Chair Professor of Contemporary Indian studies at Russian State University for Humanities besides �scholar at Residence� at Kerala university �Eminent Scholar at Pondicherry University Visiting Fellow at Punjab University . He is a prolific writer in Kannada as well. His book on �Identity Politics� received Kannada Sahitya Akademy award. Earlier Karnataka High court appointed him as the chairman of the committee on Tribal Displacement and Rehabilitation of National Park. Currently he is one of coordinators of University Potential for Excellence Area Studies II project on Media and Social Development in Karnataka.
