The actors included Mr. Leach "the extraordinary dwarf who has been engaged expressly to aid this piece and who will introduce a variety of astonishing feats peculiar to himself and excelling every display of extraordinary agility hitherto witnessed!". Shelf wear along bottom edges of boards else a near fine copy in like jacket with some light toning and corner wear. <br /> <br /> Early collection of illustrated poetry from the Michigan-born puppeteer and gay novelist Forman Brown. Brown established the Turnabout Theater with his group Forman's Yale Puppeteers in Los Angeles in 1941. The venue quickly became very popular garnering celebrity attention from the likes of Greta Garbo Mary Pickford Douglas Fairbanks Aimee Semple McPherson and others. <br /> <br /> In 1933 Forman wrote what is considered the first American novel to present the gay experience in a healthy manner a semi-autobiographical work called Better Angel. Spider Kin collects his early poetry some of which was published in The Dial The Reviewer and other periodicals. The souvenir program gives a substantial description of the design and construction of the Cort Theatre with the facade modeled after the Petit Trianon in Versailles. Biographical note: born in Nice in 1921 Colette Monceau was a student of Charles Dullin in the second half of the forties and played in several plays during the same period. At the end of the 1950s she took courses at Pierre Foix's school of graphology in Paris and worked in particular on dance as part of the exam for the Group of Consulting Graphologists of France. Having become a consultant graphologist she also teaches this technique. Particularly interested in the writings of Louis Jouvet and Sarah Bernhardt she wrote three works that remained unpublished as well as several articles. It constitutes a thousand files devoted to actors and actresses as well as personalities from varied backgrounds. Colette Monceau née Nancey 1921-2016. Notice biographique : née à Nice en 1921 Colette Monceau est élève de Charles Dullin dans la seconde moitié des années quarante et joue dans plusieurs pièces à cette même période. À la fin des années cinquante elle suit les cours de l’école de graphologie de Pierre Foix à Paris et travaille notamment sur la danse dans le cadre de l'examen du Groupement des graphologues conseils de France. Devenue graphologue-conseil elle enseigne également cette technique. Silk souvenir program for the opening shows at Stockwell's Theatre which operated from 1892-1894 at 11 Powell St. in downtown San Francisco. Prior to being taken over and renovated at a cost of an estimated $60000 by L. R. Stockwell it had been the Powell Street Theatre. The theatre again changed to new ownership in 1894 after Stockwell went bankrupt and left the city; the Columbia Theatre which replaced it was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire.The program notes the arrival of Augustin Daly's Company of Comedians and lists the members of the troupe who appear next in their roles in As You Like It which opened on July 7 1892. A synopsis of scenery attribution for the original incidental music names of the managers and orchestra notes follows with a list of upcoming plays at the end.OCLC locates one holding at Yale. unknown
