John Hanbury Dwyer (1780-1841), was born in Clonnel County, Tipperary, Ireland; and came to America 1811, He was a brilliant actor, and a star of both the British and American stage. He was most famous in the mid-19th century for this work on Elocution. A nearly fine and brilliant copy of a book usually found well worn. Hardbound. If from 1823, this would be the earliest known example of a printed cloth binding but this may be a reprint from 1860. All plates present and text in great condition for the age. William Hone (1780-1842) was an English writer, satirist and bookseller.
