Sulla base di un'iscrizione bilingue trovata a Sardi in Anatolia, Asia Minore Occidentale, Magnesia, Mileto, Smirne ecc. (attuale Turchia). evidenzia un punto di partenza per decifrare una lingua già quasi estinta nel primo secolo a. C., del tutto differente dalle altre lingue anatoliche forse perché arcaica.e di cui restano poche iscrizioni perlopiù epitaffi di poche parole. SAYCE, archeologo ed assiriologo britannico, trascrisse e tradusse importanti testi in scrittura cuneiforme, decifrò geroglifici in Siria, identificò in Bogazköy la capitale degli Ittiti e capì che i suoi simboli costituivano un sillabario fonetico, Raro ed eccezionale, non censito come estratto in SBN.
