In 8° (cm 10 x 16,5), cartonatura settecentesca, pp (4), 288 per la prima parte; 354, (2) per la seconda. Due frontespizi con impresa tipografica (mani che stringono un caduceo, cornucopie, Pegaso); titolo ("Aristotelous technes rhetorikes biblia 3") e testo su due colonne, greco e latino, nel primo volume; schemi esplicativi con parentesi graffe nel testo; collazione identica a quella dell'edizione Hanoviae, Typis Wechelianis, apud Cl. Marnium & Haeredes Johannis Aubrii, del 1606. Esemplare in buone condizioni, uniformi bruniture, pallide gore, note ms coeve, ex-libris ms al frontespizio: "Heym, d. 12 Xbr. 1768, ex auctione publ.". Il Riccoboni (1541-'99) fu insegnante di Eloquenza a Padova per 25 anni. Mentre la prima parte è costituita dalla traduzione del Riccoboni con testo originale a fronte, la seconda è commento in latino dello stesso, nonchè degli umanisti citati nel titolo. Nessun esemplare censito in SBN, uno in COPAC.

Book is in excellent condition, as new. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket is as new also, now wrapped in a clear protective cover. Previous owner's name or sticker in front section of the book.
In 24° (cm 8,2 x 13,4), legatura mz pelle moderna con titoli e fregi in oro al dorso, piatti marmorizzati, pp 140, (4), esemplare in buone condizioni, uniformi bruniture dovute alla qualità della carta, timbretto e ritratto silografico di Cicerone al frontespizio. La scheda dell'esemplare censito in Biblioteche Spagnole precisa: "El impresor trabaja desde finales S. XVII hasta principio S. XVIII". Celebre opera, uscita in prima edizione nel 1666, del gesuita Du Cygne (1619-1669), teologo dell'università di Lovanio, vescovo di Ruremonde nel 1596, estremamente attivo contro l'eresia, autore di celebri "Lettere" contro i protettori degli eretici, notoriamente il principe di Nassau; A. di opere tutte riguardanti controversie, in cui a una visione eterodossa contrappone il punto di vista apostolico e romano. La presente opera è citata dagli studiosi di retorica: "How persistent is this rhetorical view of poetry is well illustrated by the Ars Rhetorica of the Jesuit Martin Du Cygne, first published in 1666, and still used as a text-book in Georgetown University. He is discussing the three kinds of argument: syllogism, enthymeme, and example, or induction. Induction is delightful and is appropriate to an ignorant audience because of its similitudes and examples. This argument is frequently used by rhetoricians and poets, especially Ovid; because it explains attractively and clearly" ("Rhetoric and Poetry in the Renaissance A Study of Rhetorical Terms in English Renaissance Literary Criticism", author: Donald Lemen Clark ).
