The translator and editor who also recorded the orally conveyed texts - Konstantin Tsereteli (1921-2004), was a major Georgian scholar of Semitic languages, an eminent authority on Aramaic dialects. The Urmia dialect has become the prestige dialect of Assyrian Neo-Aramaic after 1836, when that dialect was chosen by Justin Perkins, an American Presbyterian missionary, for the creation of a standard literary dialect of Assyrian. 260x175mm.
