Dopo aver militato nella legione straniera ed essere stato prigioniero dei tedeschi riuscì a evadere dal campo di concentramento e a unirsi alla Resistenza francese. Dal 1949, anno di pubblicazione di questo libro, al 1963, fu redattore capo della rivista “Evidences”, pubblicata dall’American Jewish Committee.
