With Original stamped envelope to Mansfield in Ipswitch MA. Envelope with some edge chipping. Letter with minor problems at bottom margin. The content is very interesting and sheds some light on the business activities of professional painters in America.Both men were painters but Sartain is better known as he was quite popular for his plein air approach to painting. He was one of the founders of the Society of American Artists and later became president of the New York Art Club. Mansfield was a painter as well and he did his best work during the Civil War. He is more famous for being the son of Spiritualist James V. Mansfield. James Mansfield was known as a "writing medium" and was a prominent member of the spiritualist movement during the mid- to late-nineteenth century. N.p. unknown
