Translated into French by Charles Baudelaire. The first edition thus only 360 copies of this work were produced of which numbers 21 to 150 were placed in this half calf box - styled to look like a large book - numbered signed by the artist and with the publisher's blind stamp to the limitation page. This copy is no. 105A beautifully illustrated edition of this short tale from Edgar Allan Poe one of Poe's memorable revenge stories in which a murderer apparently escapes without punishment a dwarf court jester who kills his king.Illustrated by artist Anne Velghe with five double page and eight full page illustrations accompanied by fourteen vignette illustrations. Of the two prints taken from her original lithographic stone called for only one is present.A beautifully illustrated and very scarce signed Limited Edition of this short horror story from Poe first published in 1849.
