Préfaces du traducteur à la première et seconde édition, introduction du traducteur, discours de Hegel du 22 octobre 1818 à l'ouverture de son cours à Berlin et introduction de son Encyclopédie en milieu de tome I, sommaire à la fin de chaque volume. Première traduction en français de cette partie cruciale de la philosophie de Hegel, ici francisé en "Hégel", cette Logique est précédée d'une préface polémique où l'auteur s'en prend à la "Logique" de John Stuart Mill, qu'il qualifie d'"amas" mal organisé et indigeste de connaissances disparates, et à la Logique de Tredenbourg qu'il estime être une "falsification" de celle de Hegel. Un témoignage vigoureux d'une époque où les professeurs de philosophie s'identifiaient clairement à des figures et à des systèmes et où une certaine liberté de ton permettait des empoignes vives, mais sans venin, autour de la figure de tel ou tel philosophe. Reliure dans un état remarquable. Quasi aucun frottement, état de conservation exceptionnel. Intérieur essentiellement frais, rousseurs à certaines pages (surtout premières pages du tome I et dans les marges du tome II) qui ne gênent pas la lecture. Discret tampon de bibliothèque aux pages de titre sans aucune autre marque.

No full English translation of the complete lectures has ever been produced. Sibree's first English translation was finished in 1857 and it is still the only English version which contains not only the Introduction but the shorter body of the lectures according to Karl Hegel's Georg Hegel's son 1840 manuscript. Condition: Externally Fair - embossed front board gilt title to spine; minimal wear to front cover mostly wear to corners; back cover corners rubbed and a few spots of soiling; spine cracking and two pieces chipped off head and edge of spine.
