Richard Hegel was Director of Library Services Emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University and also a former Executive Director of the New Haven Colony Historical Society and previously an Industrial Power Engineer with the Connecticut Light and Power Company. He was a graduate of the William Penn Charter School Yale University The United States Merchant Marine Academy the Graduate School at Southern Connecticut State University as well as Gateway Community College. He has received the Yale University Elm Ivy Award and was an Associate Fellow of Calhoun College at Yale. Richard Hegel wrote extensively on New Haven history. His best known works were Nineteenth Century Historians of New Haven and Carriages from New Haven. With Floyd Mallory Shumway he edited New Haven an Illustrated History. He served as Municipal Historian of the city for many years. This book traces the emergence of the carriage industry against a background of the general commercial development of New Haven and its surroundings and of the development of transportation throughout the country. The story is continued through the growth of the manufacturing industry to its achievement of a position of national and international prominence until its decline and eventual demise early in the 20th century. -- from Book Jacket. Malabou e Butler, da sempre attente studiose del corpo delle minoranze, sottolineano come questa ingiunzione sia di fatto impossibile, in quanto soggettività e corporeità non possono essere mai completamente disgiunte. Il distacco non può compiersi se non nella forma di un "attaccamento ostinato al distacco", un attaccamento sempre più ostinato e addirittura disperato.
