Miss Carol is as lovely as ever wearing a summer dress and pretty earrings. Fine. Hemingway and his wife Martha Gellhorn moved to Cuba in 1939 and in 1940 bought the "Finca Vigia" "Lookout Farm". In 1960 he left Cuba and Finca Vigia for the last time. This booklet was written to accompany this release on cassette of a recording Ernest Hemingway made in Havana in 1947. One the record Hemingway makes a series of brief comments about recent history mentions how the recording was made and rereads his haunting 1939 Spanish Civil War eulogy On the American Dead In Spain. The recording was made to be played at a New York dinner on February 12th. The dinner commemorated the tenth anniversary of the Lincoln Battalion’s February 1937 baptism by fire in the Spanish Civil War. Fine condition. University of Illinois Press unknown
