'Olimpia' geldt als een gezamenlijke productie van Hermanus Asschenberg Anthony Hartsen Jacob Lutkeman Lucas Pater en Henri Jean Roullaud die tezamen het Amsterdamse toneelgezelschap 'Oefening Beschaaft de Kunsten' vormden dat zich uitsluitend bezig hield met het schrijven en vertalen van toneelspelen. Daarnaast waren zij lid van andere dichtgenootschappen en gaven bovendien ook afzonderlijk dicht- en toneelstukken uit. Het verzameld werk van 'Oefening Beschaaft de Kunsten' is tussen 1752 en 1785 in 8 delen verschenen. Voltaires 'Olimpia' waarschijnlijk het eerste toneelspel dat de vijf als genootschap hebben voortgebracht was hier zeer omstreden vanwege de drie zelfmoorden in het stuk. De vertalers schrapten er twee van waaronder die van Olimpia. Op beide prenten ziet men dan ook een priester de titelheldin van haar daad weerhouden. De la Fontaine Verwey wijst op het verschil in stijl en techniek tussen de prenten van Fokke en Vinkeles. Dat viel kennelijk ook de tijdgenoot op want naar aanleiding van de Olimpia-illustraties verscheen er een geschrift de 'Onzijdige Aanmerkingen op de twee Tytelplaatjes die voor het Treurspel Olimpia kort na elkander zijn uitgegeven' waarin Fokke - die toen een grote naam had als graveur - te horen kreeg dat hij zig met dit stukje te zeer overhaast heeft en het dus maar gelyk men zegt afgerabbelt is; de arceringen van de pas beginnende Vinkeles vond de beoordelaar - volgens Anna de Haas was dat niemand minder dan de toneelschrijver Jan Nomsz - hoewel zeer netjes echter al te regelmatig ik zag ze liever met meer vrijheid in ongedwongener trant.
