Three beautifully and uniformly bound collections of poetry by renowned eighteenth and nineteenth-century poets Percy Bysshe Shelley Robert Bridges John Keats and Robert Bridges. This set is comprised of: I Poetical Works of Robert Bridges Excluding the Eight Dramas published in 1914 II The Poetical Works of John Keats published in 1929 and edited by H. Buxton Forman and III The Complete Poetical Works of Percy Bysshe Shelley published in 1927 and edited by Thomas Hutchinson.Percy Bysshe Shelley 1792-1822 and John Keats 1795-1821 were both poets during the Romantic period characterised by sensitivity connection to nature and emotion. Shelley was a radical poet and identified heavily with leftist politics and ideals; he was also married to Mary Shelley known for her gothic literature Frankenstein in particular. John Keats's poetry evoked heavy themes of nature and he often used natural imagery and extreme emotion in his works. Tragically both Shelley and Keats died young Shelley during a shipwreck at age thirty and Keats of tuberculosis at only age twenty-five. Robert Bridges 1844-1930 was an English poet during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and his works evoked strong Christian themes and he is responsible for many well-known hymns. He was a Poet Laureate from 1913 to 1930. All three works contain a frontispiece portrait of the author. This set was previously owned by Cyrillus Norwood Magister Informer and his bookplate can be found to the front pastedown of each volume. Handsomely bound in contemporary half morocco with cloth covered boards and gilt detailing to the spine. Externally lovely with just a slight bit of fading to the spines and joints. A handsome example of the Julian edition published between 1926 and 1930 and limited to 780 sets between the UK and the US. Complete in 10 uniform volumes all in their vellum-backed dark-green boards with gilt-rule at the panels and gilt top-edges. Crisp and bright and VG with light soiling along a number of the spines. Still though very presentable. Internally very sharp as well with no writing or markings to speak of. The complete set edited by Roger Ingpen and Walter E. Peck.
