16877544London: Printed for Jacob Tonson 1687. Large 8vo 6 145 1 pp half 20th century library binding preserving the original marbled boards new endpapers. "Second Edition" stated to title page. This copy inscribed by Alexander R. Stephens of Augusta Georgia on the last page; once in a 19th century hand and once in 1909. Records indicate that Stephens or Stevens emigrated from Ireland to Augusta in 1820. Several other names are also present on the first and last few pages--John O'Hara dated 1819 John Campbell Agnes Cambpell A McDonald and J. Buchanan as well as an ink sketch of a garden scene to verso of title page. The first four leaves a blank the title page and the first two text leaves have been encased in protective plastic which does appear to be removable the pages are not stuck to it. The title page and the first text page are wrinkled and heavily toned with chipping along margins resulting in slight loss to decorative borders on title page and slight text loss to first text leaf. Otherwise the pages are toned and foxed with slight trimming to margins resulting in a tiny bit of loss to first or last letter of text. Some cover wear and mild soiling present.
