Set in a page of descripive Italian text page 85 with decorative woodcut headpiece and historiated initial. Single page. folio text to verso. Good impression. good margins. Minor dampstaining to upper corners of leaf. The battle of Lepanto between the Christians and the Turks took place in 1571 one year before Porcacchi first published his Isolario so was very topical at the time. The two fleets met near the islands called by the Venetians "Curzolari"modern day Oxia and even called the victory that of the Battle of Curzolari hence the title on this map. Porcacchi also mentions the ancient history of the area and the earlier battle of Actium between Octavian and Cleopata with Mark Anthony which took place near Prevesa and where was built the Roman town of Nicopoli to celebrate the victory. Tomasso Porcacchi da Castiglione first published his Isolario in 1572 in Venice The maps were engraved by Girolamo Porro. whilst Porcacchi provided the descriptions. Owner signed on top corner of title page and two lines of old ink notation on rear end paper no other ownership marks. VG ink spine label mostly faded away faint rippling throughout text. . hardcover
Manifesto cm. 43 x 31 con stemma xil. in data 7 agosto 1795. Importante e rara sentenza relativa ad un importante gruppo di congiurati di uno dei primi moti giacobini avvenuti in Piemonte. Cherrise (Cerise) fu uno dei capi della conventicola repubblicana di cui facevano parte anche Junod, Bonafous, i fratelli Chantel ecc. nata con l'intenzione di favorire l'invasione francese. In realta' l'insurrezione fu soffocata sul nascere a causa di una serie di delazioni, in particolare quella del medico Barolo che, consegnatosi il 25 maggio denunzio' almeno trentacinque giacobini. Di questi alcuni come Chantel G. B. e Francesco Junod vennero impiccati e affrontarono con stoica determinazione il martirio, altri, come appunto quelli nominati in questa sentenza, riuscirono a fuggire e vennero impiccati in effige.
