A second edition also very scarce was published three years later.Illustrated with a folding map frontispiece.Mitchell was a Scottish author science writer and antiquarian. In 1816 he travelled Belgium Holland the Rhine and northern France detailing its recovery from the devastation wrought by the Napoleonic Wars. Rebacked in the publisher's original paper covered boards. Retaining the original endpapers.Mitchell provided his readers with information on the food language dress and customs of the region.
