Le poème, un texte de jeunesse dont la fin est influencée par Burroughs, et qui sera repris dans un numéro de l'Herne consacré à Houellebecq, est imprimé sur un leporello aux bordures perforées, maintenu fermé par des cordelettes noires. The marbled paper design has been prepared by Jemma Lewis using Irish Carrageen Moss. The bindings were executed by Tom Pat Tommy and Patricia Duffy at their workshop in DublinÂ’s Five Lamps area. Cet artiste d'origine polonaise a fondé en 1990 les Editions Anima Mundi et a publié plusieurs livres d'artiste dans lequel il mélange papier, estampes originales et typographie, le tout dans un tourbillon de couleurs. Chaque exemplaire est par ailleurs rehaussé de couleurs posées à la main, ce qui le rend unique. Ses livres de bibliophiles sont reconnus et estimés depuis de nombreuses années dans le monde entier. Son travail de graveur a été récompensé par de nombreux prix. Ses ouvrages se retrouvent dans de nombreuses bibliothèques de conservation de par le monde. Ici c'est Salvador Dali qui est mis à l'honneur autour de textes magistralement typographiés et dont l'écriture a été confiée à Béatrice Libert et d'images gravées sur cuivre tirées en couleurs. Le joli et grand cuivre tiré en bleu est d'inspiration surréaliste et parfaitement en phase avec l'oeuvre du maître. Bel exemplaire, tel que paru.

The twenty-nine poems of wide-ranging topics sum Lawrence Ferlinghetti himself: warm cynical open observant and in love with everyday life. A challenge to the typesetters this edition is set as the original was with lines of varying justifications that lead the eye back and forth on the page. Lawrence Ferlinghetti 1919 – 2021 was a poet novelist playwright founder of City Lights Publishers owner of City Lights Bookstore political activist and literary hero of San Francisco CA. Though he was immersed in the Beat culture beginning in the 1950s he insisted that he was not a Beat writer. Begins with a 29-entry List of Poems by First Lines. Some of these poems were previously published in periodicals including Chicago Review and The Evergreen Review. The frontispiece is a full plate portrait of the author loosely drawn by R. B. Kitaj 1932 - 2007. Ronald Brooks Kitaj was an influential artist in England and the United States known best as a painter but also a printmaker and often controversial social activist. This is copy 188 of a limited edition of 300 numbered copies. The colophon is signed in pencil by the author and the illustrator. This seventy-fourth publication of the Arion Press was designed by Andrew Hoyem and a team of nine. Handset Goudy Light and Goudy Heavy types and the text was printed letterpress on mouldmade German Hahnemuhle Bugra paper laid lines and texture to one side with the other side smooth. The portrait drawings were reproduced from the originals and printed on an Epson 4000 inkjet. Bound in quarter black cloth with mustard yellow paper over boards. The front is printed with Kitaj' loose surreal portraiture. The back is printed with Kitaj' signature and the letterpressed author’s name and book title. Paper title label to spine.
