The way that computing is presented and taught in schools has a major impact on girls’ third level choice and can motivate them to either choose computing or reject it as a career choice. Girls’ interest in communication, group work and social usefulness needs to be stimulated by presenting computing as a communication too and emphasising its social dimensions, as well as its technical possibilities, within the educational curriculum. This book aimed to identify barriers to women’s participation and progression in computing and to highlight positive factors that influence women’s career choice and academic success. It indicates that the problem of women’s under-representation does not lie in women’s lack of ability or interest, or their false perception of computing, but rather in the academic and cultural environment which is inherently, as well as stereotypically masculine. About The Author:- Mr. K.K. Sharma is an eminent historian who has rich contribution in numerous fields of historical researches. He has contributed in various seminars having deep links with the socio-economic condition of women as well as the great utility of computers. At present Shri Sharma is Asst. Superintending Archaeologist in the Archeological Survey of India. They began as do many marriages and love affairs - in an atmosphere of romance. Only over time did the extreme violence surface. Intended for younger readers. Usual library markings. Light wear. 387 p. + Frontis, ** Plus a tipped-in extract from Isaiah produced in raised letters for the blind by N.B. Kneass Jr., Printer, Philadelphia. Nice original full blue cloth binding, lettered in gilt. Hardbound. Very good+. Memoirs and works of eminent blind authors, including: Homer, Blacklock, Holman, Wilson, Huber, Miss Alice Holmes, Miss Frances Jane Crosby, Miss Cynthia Bullock and others; as well as a collection of poems by blind authors including: L. V. Hall, Frances Brown, Margaret Belches, Michael M'Guire and others. ** The little broadside in raised printing employs the Philadelphia line fonts inspired by Julius Friedlander and adopted in 1837 for use by his Philadelphia school, now the Overbrook School for the Blind. Though helpful for years in educating the blind, many sightless persons found the Roman letters difficult to use, and all such systems were eventually superseded by Braille.
