Four volumes of later editions of the classic children's tales of author and illustrator Beatrix Potter each richly illustrated in colour.Beginning in 1901 with the private printing of 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' following a mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit as he is chased around the garden of Mr McGregor twenty-three of these charming children's tales were published in total. Present here are: the 1958 edition of 'The Tale of Benjamin Bunny'; the 1960 French language edition of 'Monsieur Jeremie Peche-a-la-Ligne'; the 1974 edition of 'The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies' and the 1978 edition of 'The Tale of Tom Kitten'.Each volume is illustrated with twenty-seven colour plates. Collated complete.Each in their original dust wrapper with only 'Jeremie' price clipped and the remaining volumes unclipped. Former owner's inscriptions to front free endpapers of 'Flopsy' 'Benjamin' and 'Tom'. Further inscription to front flyleaf of 'Flopsy'. In the publisher's original paper covered boards with dust wrappers. Three dust wrappers unclipped and one clipped. Light shelf wear to back strip heads and tails with boards exceptionally bright. Former owner's inscriptions to front free endpapers of 'Flopsy' 'Benjamin' and 'Tom'. Small losses of paper to rear pastedowns of 'Tom' and 'Flopsy'. Further inscription to front flyleaf of 'Flopsy'. Small losses of paper to 'Jeremie' and 'Bunny' dust wrapper back strip head and tail with rubbing to centre of 'Jeremie' back strip. Light chipping to head of 'Flopsy' back strip. Significant handling marks to wraps of 'Bunny' and 'Jeremie' with significant closed tear to 'Jeremie' rear wrap. Two pieces of clear tape and a small loss to tail of 'Flopsy' front wrap with further tape to front and rear flyleaves of 'Flopsy' and to rear flyleaf of 'Tom'. Internally firmly bound.
