TOD By Beatrix Potter Author Bio: Helen Beatrix Potter 28 July 1866 22 December 1943 was an English writer illustrator natural scientist and conservationist. She is best known for her children's books featuring animals such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit which was her first published work in 1902. Her books including 23 Tales have sold more than 250 million copies. Potter was also a pioneer of merchandisingin 1903 Peter Rabbit was the first fictional character to be made into a patented stuffed toy making him the oldest licensed character. Illustrated By: Beatrix Potter Illustrator Bio: Beatrix Potter 18661943 was a British illustrator author naturalist and conservationist her finely detailed watercolours combined scientific accuracy with warmth humour and narrative charm reflecting her lifelong study of the natural world. Potter became one of the defining figures of childrens illustration later devoting much of her life to farming and conservation in the Lake District. Synopsis: The Tale of Mr. Tod is a children's book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter first published by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1912. The tale is about a badger called Tommy Brock and his arch enemy Mr. Tod a fox. Brock kidnaps the children of Benjamin Bunny and his wife Flopsy intending to eat them and hides them in an oven in the home of Mr. Tod. Benjamin and his cousin Peter Rabbit have followed Tommy Brock in an attempt to rescue the babies. When Mr. Tod finds Brock asleep in his bed he determines to get him out of the house. His initial attempt fails and the two eventually come to blows. Under cover of the fight the rabbits rescue the baby rabbits. The tale was influenced by the Uncle Remus stories and was set in the fields of Potter's Castle Farm. The tale is critically considered one of Potter's "most complex and successful in plot and tone." Potter's publisher wanted Mr. Tod to be the first in a new series of Peter Rabbit tales in larger formats with elaborate bindings but Potter disliked the idea. Nonetheless Mr. Tod and its 1913 follower The Tale of Pigling Bland were published in the new formats but the idea was eventually dropped and the ordinary bindings were adopted for reprints. The two tales were the last completely original productions by Potter. She continued to publish sporadically but used decades-old concepts and sketches rather than new images and ideas. 1908158351908. Potter Beatrix. The Roly Poly Pudding. London: Frederick Warne & Co. 1908. First edition. The Roly Poly Pudding published in 1908 is part of Potter's influential cycle of illustrated animal tales that reshaped early twentieth-century children's literature with her unique blend of narrative realism and naturalist illustration. The book reflects the consolidation of Potter's commercial and artistic success following The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Her anthropomorphic characters rendered with botanical and zoological precision contributed to a redefinition of children's publishing as both literary and visual art.

The story centers on Tom Kitten and his entanglement in domestic misadventure blending humor discipline and rural English setting in a format accessible to early readers. Potter's illustrations combine full-color plates with black-and-white drawings integrated into pagination reinforcing the narrative's pacing and emotional tone. As part of Warne's uniform series the volume belongs to a publishing phenomenon that established enduring conventions in illustrated juvenile fiction. Octavo. viii 70 pages with nineteen full-color illustrations and numerous black-and-white illustrations. Publisher's red cloth over beveled boards pictorial label to front board.
