The name Fabiola comes from Saint Fabiola a woman in 4th century Rome who started the first hospital for sick and needy travelers. The Fabiola Hospital was built 10 years later at the intersection of New Broadway and Moss Avenue now Broadway and West MacArthur Blvd. on 2-1/2 acres of land donated by Anthony Chabot. Place of publication not indicated; we have seen credible suggestions of both Petrograd and New York. We have seen other copies described as having 48 pages so it is possible this copy is missing a page though we do not see evidence of removal. Boards worn spine re-covered and ties replaced title page unprofessionally re-attached on a stub with cloth tape. Chipping to title page and staining to first illustrated page otherwise internally clean and sound.
