Brown calf leather binding with newer red leather title label on the spine. Front and rear hinges repaired at one point leaving the rear fly end paper partially stuck to the rear paste down. Leather boards are scuffed and pitted. Light toning to the text. A few pages are browned. Map of the United States measures 15" x 11.5". The contemporary 18th century map of the United States tipped in front probably was not issued with the book. The original map engraved by John Cheevers was 35-1/4" x 43-1/2" in size and issued separately. This map has an approximate two inch closed tear on the right edges and a few tape repairs to the lower edges made on the verso of the map.
