Philadelphia 1862.<br/><br/> On the front page in the first one and half columns on the left and concluding in two full columns on the last page is an article on the February 5 1862 United States Senate vote to expel Senator Jesse Bright of Indiana who was the most senior Democrat in the Senate. On March 1 1861 Senator Bright wrote a letter of introduction for Thomas B. Lincoln a Texas arms dealer. The letter was addressed to Jefferson Davis. In July 1861 Lincoln was captured with the letter by Union troops as he attempted to enter the Confederacy. Senator Bright was accused of being a traitor because of the letter. The proceedings of the Senate and impressions of the vote by Senators are included in the article. Senator Bright was expelled by a vote of 32 to 14. The yeas and nays votes with each Senator listed are on the front page. Jesse Bright was the fourth Senator from a Union state to be expelled during the Civil War.<br/><br/> unknown books

Paper is folded in half at this point. Overall condition fair for newsprint. An exciting piece of Civil War history published the day before Lee surrendered. The paper is full of Civil War coverage including the capture of six Confederate Generals Sheridan's route of a rebel army and Lee's army broken up. The Times article talks of victory and the demise of the Confederate army. This issue is at the end of the Civil War and about a week before Lincoln would be assassinated. </p> books

This pamphlet commemorates the bi-centennial of the Indian attack on Medfield in February 1675. It was believed that a group of Nipmucks and Wampanoags who were allied with King Philip terrorized the residents and burned a good portion of the town. The pamphlet records the activities of the celebration including some historical information prayers and poems. 3814Revolutionary War Receipt from Comptroller's office of Oliver Walcott dated April 2 1789 Hartford Connecticut. The receipt is signed by Albert Stanley who was a soldier in the American Revolution. This receipt was for the States Notes that were issued during the Revolutionary War and were then redeemed by the soldier. Stanley received one pounds ten shillings and six pence. An original promotional poster for distribution in Czechoslovakia of the 1939 130 minute Russian film biography directed by Mikhail Romm et al starring Boris Shchukin as Lenin N.K. Cherkasv as Gorkii and M. Gelovani as Stalin. The script was credited to Aleksei Kapler and Taisiya Zlatogorova. The film was released in the USSR and the US in 1939 and was eventually distributed in Europe and elsewhere in the years following the end of WWII. The Czech release title translates roughly as "Unforgettable Year" and the film was a sequel to the 1937 LENIN IN OCTOBER. unknown books
