1955617Sacramento: Department of Public Works Division of Highways State of California 1955. 18 3/4 x 16 inches. Very good with light spotting in unobtrusive places. This is a very simple but informative map of the Los Angeles area highlighting the major thoroughfares of the region. Disneyland directions are on the map but interstate highway designations are not Highway66 is prominently shown going across the map. This map must have been handed out in quantities but it is hard to find in today's market. It was quite disposable. It is quite attractive to the motorists because it was simple and useful. 19173183Watervliet NY: Century Printing Co 1917. Very good. Broadside 8.5 x 6 inches. Evenly toned a couple of shallow edge chips. A rare surviving flyer advertising a series of speeches at "The Final Mass Meeting" of the New York State Woman Suffrage Party before voting takes place for "Woman Suffrage Amendment No. 1" in 1917. The speakers include Mrs. Flora McDonald Dennison billed as "The Famous Canadian Woman Suffrage Leader" Frank Durham "Formerly of Colorado" and "The Liberty Loan Speaker Rev. Dr. J. Ellenwood." The meeting was presided over by E.J. Foley mayor of the New York town of Watervliet located near Troy and Albany. Flora Dennison was the leader of the Canadian Woman Suffrage Association; she spent two years on a lecture tour for the New York State Woman Suffrage Association as evidenced here. The speakers encourage people to vote for the woman's suffrage amendment which did indeed pass on the November 6 1917 ballot in New York. The vote was close with supporters outnumbering detractors 703129 to 600776. Passage of New York Women's Suffrage Amendment 1 predated ratification of the 19th Amendment by almost three years. OCLC records just five physical copies with another held in the noted suffrage collection of Ann Lewis. Century Printing Co unknown

New English Original cloth bdg. In publisher's special box. 4to. Oblong 4to. (25 x 34 cm). In Turkish. 357 p., color and b/w photos. "'Yadigar-i Istanbul', has been selected among 35.535 photographs from 911 photograph albums in the library of Yildiz Palace. The oldest of these albums date back to the year 1857. The photograph albums of Yildiz Palace entirely given to Istanbul University in 1924 at the behest of Ataturk are among the world's most remarkable photography collections. Perspectives of the photographers of that period have been reflected while in the selection of photographs for "Yadigar-i Istanbul". Those who see the "Yadigar-i Istanbul photos will realize the early beauties of Istanbul as well as the great changes it has undergone. As a result of the study made on 911 albums containing 35.535 photographs and on the photographers of the albums, almost 370 photographer names emerged. In "Yadigar-i Istanbul, the names of these photographers and their photograph albums are also available. It is a great contribution not only to the history of Ottoman photography but also to that of world photography. It will lead to new research in world's photography history and probably rewriting of the history of photography.".
