But its strongest opponent is Mr. Gandhi and perhaps the most severe check it has received is the adoption by the National Congress at his instance in Calcutta and Nagpur of the so-called-Non-violent Non-co-operation. Non-co-operation as advocated by Mr. Gandhi may be a weapon to be used when constitutional methods have failed to achieve our purpose. Non-violence and passive suffering will lead to bloodshed or be unfruitful of any satisfactory results. Moreover; nothing shows the lack of statesmanship more than practically basing the claim for Swaraj upon the Punjab and the Khilafat grievances. About The Author : Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair, CIE (1857 – 1934) was a lawyer who also served as a President of the Indian National Congress in 1897 at the meeting held at Amravati. He wrote Gandhi and Anarchy (1922). Nair started as a lawyer in 1880 in the High Court of Madras. In 1884, the Madras Government appointed him as a member of the committee for an enquiry into the district of Malabar. Till 1908, he was the Advocate-General to the Government and an Acting Judge from time to time. In 1908, he became a permanent Judge in the High Court of Madras and held the post till 1915. He was a part of the bench that tried Collector Ashe murder case along with C. A. White, then the Chief Justice of Madras, William Ayling, as a special case. He played an active part in the Indian National movement which was gathering force in those days. His official life from 1908 to 1921 interrupted his activities as a free political worker. In 1928, he was the President of the Indian Central Committee to co-operate with the Simon Commission. The Committee prepared a well-argued report asking for Dominion Status for India. When the Viceregal announcement came granting Dominion Status as the ultimate goal for India. The Title 'Gandhi and Anarchy written/authored/edited by Sir C. Nei suoi venti anni di vita, dal 1972 al 1995, l'Isc propagandò l'alternativa corporativa come unica via per risolvere i problemi delle società contemporanee in profonda crisi di transizione. Con la sua rivista l'istituto di Studi Corporativi si propose di penetrare nei refrattari spazi accademici, sviluppando con rigore scientifico, e quindi seriamente, la possibilità di dar vita ad una società partecipativa che partiva dalla constatazione del fallimento delle ideologie liberale e comunista.

In queste pagine, a metà tra il manifesto sociale e il racconto autobiografico, Vandana Shiva ci fa capire una questione centrale per l'oggi: "La difesa dei diritti della Terra innegabilmente contribuisce alla difesa dei diritti umani". Di fronte alla crisi ecologica l'unica via di uscita - secondo la paladina anti-Ogm - è far sì che il mercato non si impossessi anche della nostra aria, terra e acqua, in sostanza della vita: "Poche multinazionali cercano di assicurarsi il controllo delle risorse della Terra. Le manipolazioni della bioingegneria sono il sintomo di una perversione etica. Difendere i diritti della Terra Madre è la lotta con le maggiori chance di portare a una pace duratura."

Avidità, falsa economia, capitalismo apparentemente compassionevole, multinazionali che fanno profitti su ogni aspetto dell'esistenza umana e animale, manifestando disprezzo per l'ambiente e la Terra. Non si possono affrontare le diverse emergenze (climatica, sanitaria, economica, sociale e democratica) che sconvolgono il pianeta senza andare al cuore del concetto stesso di crisi. Non si può generare una vera economia di pace se, prima, non abbandoniamo un immaginario economico radicato nella guerra. «Dobbiamo liberare le nostre pratiche», spiega Vandana Shiva, «stabilendo una nuova alleanza ecologica tra le generazioni».
