Colour-decorated cream title-wrappers with text printed in green on the other three surfaces; trifling signs of age and use; an excellent copy. 'Established 1889' is printed on the front cover; the full page of requests to the customer printed on the verso states that the company has 'built up a very large business during the past 36 years'. The index is in two parts - General Catalogue and Fun Catalogue - and the following note is printed on the last page of the index: 'We publish Two Catalogues one containing our General Stock and the other comprising chiefly Tricks Games Puzzles Amusement Devices and Books. If you have either of these Catalogues and wish us to send you the other please forward six pence'. We have previously handled a copy of the companion General Catalogue which was numbered 33b. <p>Offered with a copy of 'Catalogue No. 34A. Tall octavo approximately 235 × 150 mm comprising five folding panels of samples of coloured silk thread 243 samples in all mounted in a textured card folder. An index is mounted inside the front cover; information sheets about availability and suitability of shades are mounted on the verso of two of the panels. Folder slightly marked and rubbed with a few bumps to the edges at the rear; the silk samples are in uniformly fine condition. One of the printed information sheets states that 'All shades on this color card are stocked at Adelaide depot' establishing a clear Australian connection with what was in its time and a very long time that was the largest silk factory in the world. A comprehensive catalogue of instruments for ophthalmic surgery from this leading British manufacturer of surgical instruments. The last section also includes equipment for examination and vision testing. The Preface states that this is the 'nineteenth complete Catalogue issued during the past fifty years'. Oblong quarto 90 leaves printed rectos only of designs and commercial art with 10 leaves in monochrome and 25 in two or more colours. Black textured cloth lettered in gilt on the front cover; cloth slightly worn at the extremities with a small amount of white paint at the head of the front joint; rear hinge pulled a little but sound; tears to mainly the bottom edges of about 30 leaves with eight of those tears above a centimetre long now expertly sealed; minor loss to the top edge of one leaf; a few other mild signs of age and use; a very good copy. The lengthy subtitle is worth quoting in full: 'A bewildering collection of Modern Ornamental art bristling with new and up-to-date ideas and designs of every conceivable nature. An invaluable art gem especially adapted to the requirements of the Sign Painter Show Card Writer and Commercial Artist. Highway No. 93. The other side contains twelve panels that include maps Missoula to Salmon Route U.S. 93; Missoula to Clark Fork - Route Montana 3; Missoula to Kalispell - Route U.S. 93; Missoula to Butte U.S. 10s and To Helena U.S. 10n; Missoula Top Wallace Route U.S. 10. There is much information pertaining to each map. A few minor holes at a few fold locations else a very good color map of Western Montana. An attractive copy.
