Loss to the bottom edge of the front cover else about Very Good with intermittent soil and toning. Embossed cover printed white with a silver effect; illustrations of the company's Philadelphia mills on the last page. Similar to books published by O.N.T. or D.M.C. thread companies the manual provides a range of practical projects but with a distinct style of modeling that shows women in action. Two-colour decorated wrappers a little unevenly sunned and lightly marked with the front cover slightly curled along the top and bottom edges; an excellent copy. Our favourite is how 'To Clean Fur of Domestic Animals' pages 46-47: 'Place small nozzle on end of hose and run lightly up the animal's coat. Dogs become very fond of having their coats cleaned by Electrolux . This also removes all vermin'. As this item is surely only for the purist and completist we include a copy of 'An Introduction to Your New Electrolux Model: Model 89 Cleaner Instruction Book' oblong octavo 24 pages plus card covers with a front cover cut-out; undated but looks 1960s. 2 items. Three-colour pictorial wrappers; trifling silverfish damage mainly marginal to the top corner of the last six leaves; acidic paper uniformly tanned and slightly brittle; tears to the edges of some leaves expertly sealed; occasional short closed marginal tears; chips to a few leading margins; six leaves of colour plates of rugs and soft furnishings between pages 384-385 detached and now housed separately in a custom-made Mylar pocket a few leading edges are a little chipped; overall an excellent copy of an item definitely not made to survive as well as this example has done. The colour plates are a highlight: they include women's shoes 16 plates; men's wear 12 plates; rugs and soft furnishings 12 plates; and books 4 plates. Montgomery Ward & Co paperback

195080410Chicago: Goes Lithographing Company 1950. Wraps. Very good. Oblong sample book 16 ½" x 10" containing 96 stock specimens. Original printed cardstock covers bound with two brads and a cloth tape spine with tabbed sections.<br /> <br /> The company now based in Wisconsin and still in operation today was founded in 1881 by Indiana-native Charles B. Goes 1855-1910. In 1884 the first stock certificate blanks were published and became the foundation for all Goes Stock Lines sold to printers stationers and office suppliers. The line features detailed vignettes depicting patriotic eagles and industry themed illustrations such as agriculture oil drilling and mining ventures. One stock image suggests the Atomic Age with the nuclear symbol in the foreground of a modern cityscape with a jet flying through the skies.<br /> <br /> This sample book is an important piece of printing history. It appears a few of the stock samples have been removed and one stock sample is torn. Some fraying to the spine and light foxing to a few of the specimens which are otherwise in very good condition. A small trade catalogue featuring aprons of every type offered by Paris' famous Samaritaine department store. The aprons are divided into men's and women's. Women's aprons include those for trade kitchen nurse and baker. For men the aprons include those for gardener valet military grocer wine merchant chef doctor and veterinarian. Small aprons for valet boys and dining room boys are also included. Illustrated wrappers with 2 cm. stamp on front panel "Collection Debuisson Paris". Mme Roxane Debuisson 1927-2018 assembled one of the great collections of materials related to the history of Paris. Much of it resides at Stanford University though some was sold at Drouot in March of 2019. Pages lightly age-toned otherwise fine. Near fine. OCLC locates no copies. Publication date from the UC Davis copy which includes a price list dated March 15th 1923. ~ FIRST & ONLY EDITION. A trade catalogue of supplies and machinery for the ice cream trade including everything a small business might need to outfit an ice cream parlor including ice cream machines electric fudge warmers also good for bullion! ice cream pails trowels scoops spoons ladles straws soda glasses sundae cups chairs tables and other shop furniture. The firm of Wood & Selick was formed in 1880 and became a significant supplier of ingredients equipment and machinery for the baking confectionery and ice cream industries. They also were well known for a side business as the producers of W&S Cough Drops. Business was so good that the firm commissioned a new seven story brick warehouse at the corner of Duane and Hudson Streets in what is now known as New York’s Tribeca the handsome Babcock & Morgan building was recently home to David Bouley’s eponymous restaurant. Octavo a textured card folder on the rear inside surface of which is mounted a two-panel folding catalogue of 32 dyed fabric samples; mounted on the front inside surface is a bifolium last leaf blank giving dying instructions on the first page and specific formulae for the 32 samples on the verso. Corners a little bumped otherwise a fine copy with the rubber-stamp of the sole Australasian agent Norman G. Clark. The business that Norman Clark founded in 1919 is still in existence; following his death in 1951 his sons incorporated it as Norman G. Clark Pty. Ltd. For this reason together with the disruptions caused by the Second World War and the immediate post-war period it is highly likely that this trade catalogue dates back to the 1930s. We purchased this item many years ago from the estate of Dr Hedley Ralph Marston; if you don't know about him consult the Australian Dictionary of Biography without delay. A pink note paper is tipped in to the first page on which Stanley Jensen then VP Sales has written that the catalog is not entirely up-to-date but indicates the lines that Jensen-Byrd carries. His business card is affixed too. A staggering compendium of products designed for the ease of life and business that provides a glimpse of life in Seattle in the 1950s. Everything from laundry stoves to garage-door hardware presented with b&w illustrations.
