2 volumes in-8, demi-veau havane, dos lisses ornés d'un jeu de triples filets dorés et au noir en place des nerfs, auteur et titre dorés (reliure moderne Laurenchet), (4), xlvj, 527 p. et (4), 572 p., exemplaire non rogné. Edition originale, rare, de cette brillante synthèse de la pensée économique classique, qui obtint un succès considérable, sans doute le plus important de la littérature économique en cette première moitié du XIXe siècle et dont la portée fut immense. A sa sortie en 1803, l’oeuvre fut mal accueillie par Napoléon qui demanda à Say de réécrire son traité afin de le mettre en conformité avec l’économie de guerre basée sur le protectionnisme et les régulations. Devant le refus de l’auteur, l’ouvrage fut interdit et Say révoqué du Tribunat en 1804, après avoir passé quatre années à la tête de la section financière. Il fallut attendre 1814 et la chute de l'Empire pour qu'une nouvelle édition soit autorisée et publiée. Organisé en trois parties, selon le triptyque devenu classique en économie: production, distribution et consommation des richesses, l’ouvrage contient une défense de la politique économique libérale dans la lignée de l’école classique française, préfiguration de la révolution marginaliste et de l’école autrichienne d’économie. The parade started from the Arc de Triomphe to his resting place in Invalides. In the lower margin the caption presents the different groups forming the procession: Ajaccio delegation Paris Municipal Council Prince of Joinville Commission of Saint-Helena.in the centre of the panorama stands the spectacular funeral car. Without mention of the publisher this impressive document was undoubtedly printed by Aubert famous publisher of Parisian panoramas published during the same era and also illustrated by Adrien Provost. Publisher's half cloth black Bradel binding goffered silk boards framed with double gilt fillets the first with the gilt title convoi de l'Empereur stamped in the centre. In the distance is seen in the mist and the sunlight against the grey and russet background of the trees in the Champs-élysées beyond the great white phantom-like statues a kind of golden mountain slowly moving. All that can be distinguished of it as yet is a sort of luminous glistening which makes now stars now lightening sparkle over the whole surface of the car. A mighty roar follows this apparition. Each puzzle has 20 pieces. The first depicts Napoleon Bonaparte calmly sleeping in a chair after having given orders to his generals on the eve of the battle of Austerlitz 1 Dec. 1805. The second shows a still fresh Napoleon addressing an exhausted soldier a scene from the terrible battle at Lodi Italy 10 May 1796 between French forces under Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrian rear guard led by Johann Beaulieu. The third shows Napoleon as merciful Emperor receiving the thankful wife and children of a Prussian lord accused of conspiracy but whom he nonetheless pardoned.The puzzle matching the scene mounted on the top of the box is not included; a few pieces cracked at thin spots; box slightly defective with traces of use and browned. 188330_0722A large tradecard for Ehrich Bros. a 19th century dry goods store in New York featuring a lithograph based on a NAPOLEON SARONY photograph No. 18 of OSCAR WILDE taken in 1882. This was the basis of the first copyright infringement lawsuit against the Burrow-Giles Lithographic Company for the copyright infringement of a photograph by Napoleon Sarony in 1884. Sarony won a $610 judgement the equivalent of $16000 today. Tradecard measures 11 1/2" x 7". Ensemble complet de ce monumental ouvrage en 9 parties, devenu au fil des événements un périodique publié sur plus de dix années (1814 à 1824). "À l’origine de cet ouvrage, une commande de Bonaparte qui réclame à Montlosier un ouvrage établissant une continuité entre la monarchie, le Consulat et l’Empire, afin de fournir des arguments historiques à une réconciliation nationale. Montlosier retrace l’histoire de la monarchie en expliquant comment la noblesse a été progressivement écartée du pouvoir et dresse, en fait, un véritable réquisitoire contre la monarchie d’Ancien Régime. Exemplaire de François-Antoine, comte de Boissy d'Anglas (1756-1826) avec son nom doré en pied de chaque volume. L'une des principales personnalités politiques de la période, girondin modéré, il participa à pratiquement tous les gouvernements depuis son élection au Tiers État en 1789, de la Révolution, de la république, de l'Empire puis de la Restauration où, rallié à Louis XVIII, il fut nommé pair de France. Bon exemplaire, frais, très bien conservé.
