br. Martin Lutero scrisse questo aspro e violento documento antisemita negli ultimi anni della sua vita. Si tratta di un saggio così duro da richiedere un commento che ne tenti una contestualizzazione, addentrandosi nell'intrico di violenza che ispirò quest'opera. Risulta allora fondamentale la ricostruzione che Adriano Prosperi fa dei rapporti del fondatore della Riforma con gli ebrei e più in generale dei rapporti fra il mondo cristiano e il mondo ebraico. Prosperi analizza poi l'enorme eco che il saggio ha suscitato nel mondo protestante dove l'antisemitismo si è rivelato ancora più tenace e devastante che nel mondo cattolico.
