Speer, numero due del regime, fu insieme a Hitler artefice di quella delirante «architettura da megalomani» che portò alla costruzione della nuova Cancelleria e all'accurata progettazione urbanistica per il futuro «Reich millenario». Divenne poi ministro degli Armamenti durante la Seconda guerra mondiale e costrinse una Germania stremata a proseguire a oltranza il conflitto. Ma fu anche uno dei pochi a opporsi alla distruzione sistematica degli impianti industriali tedeschi, tanto da arrivare a progettare un attentato per porre fine ai piani suicidi che il Führer meditava contro la sua stessa nazione. Condannato a Norimberga, scrisse nel carcere di Spandau, a Berlino Ovest, queste sue memorie autobiografiche che rimangono la più sconvolgente e acuta analisi del nazismo compiuta «dall'interno». Una testimonianza meticolosa e dettagliata sulla nascita e il crepuscolo degli dei nazisti, che descrive con efficacia insuperata Hitler e la sua corte di uomini e assassini.

ill., ril. Questo volume racconta in maniera dettagliata la storia dell'8° Brigata Nera di Milano, intitolata alla memoria del Federale Aldo Resega. La narrazione storica degli avvenimenti include le vicende che hanno preceduto la costituzione della "Resega", trattando le attività dei presidi cittadini e dei distaccamenti periferici di cui si componeva la Brigata Nera milanese che è considerata la più importante tra quelle istituite. L'opera è corredata da un apparato iconografico notevole, più di ottocento illustrazioni e documenti, oltre alle biografie delle figure carismatiche di Aldo Resega e Vincenzo Costa, gli ultimi Federali di Milano. Una sezione a colori è dedicata all'uniformologia e alla propaganda, nella quale vengono presentati documenti inediti, rari cimeli e gran parte delle "memorabilia" riguardanti le Squadre d'Azione e la Brigata Nera. Lo studio è completato dall'Albo dei Caduti: 444 tra ufficiali, squadristi e ausiliarie che pagarono con la vita il loro giuramento di fedeltà.
