Black cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine. Discrete stamp of the former owner on the first white endpaper. Yellowed paper, though all the plate pages are crisp and clear. DJ slightly soiled. In good condition, complete, spine is solid. A rare find of continuing interest on a topic (Nazi occultism) which remains both fascinating and controversial.

1936514Third Reich annual publication "Volk und Heimat", in German, for Germans living in Brazil. For the year 1936. Softcover, as published. 392 pp. in-8, 16.5 x 23 cm. Plenty of ads, with blue pictures (for ads) and black-and-white pictures for the "serious" content. Many companies either unknown today or famous, i.e. Siemens, Philips, the Antarctica beer and so on. The first 40 pages are ads and a calendar/blank (intended for handwritten notes) pages. Several texts, including "Der Lebenslauf Des Fuhrers", "Germany ist Schön", all written in Gothic script. Content about the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936, planes, boats, historical narratives and other topics. Several full page black-and-white pictures. Published each year for the "Brasilianer Deutsche", these profuse documents are a lively testimony of how a highly specific segment of the Brazilian society saw its native country and itself... or how the Third Reich wanted them to see the world. Many copies were destroyed or stocked in poor conditions during and after WW2.

This is the heart wrenching story of the repeated "kidnapping" of these two girls by the foster families who had raised them during the war and, after liberation, refused to give the girls up. The autorities and Jewish community, of course, wanted the Girls returned. The book includes the entire drama with documents and newspapaper articles. Very Good Condition (H-41-2)
8vo. 205 pages. In Yiddish. Illustrated. Memorial book to the two murdered Bundist leaders, published 2 years after their deaths. Alter (18901941) , was a leader of the Bund in Poland. Alter was born in Mlawa, Poland, into a wealthy hasidic family. He graduated as an engineer in 1910, in Liège, Belgium. In 1912 he became active in the Bund in Warsaw. Exiled to Siberia for his political activities, he later escaped. During World War I, Alter found employment in England, as a laborer and then as an engineer. He returned to Poland after the February Revolution in 1917 and became a member of the central committee of the Bund. Between 1919 and 1939 Alter was one of the prominent leaders of the Bund and Jewish trade unions in Poland. He was a Warsaw city councilor for almost 20 years, and after 1936 a member of the board of the Jewish community. After the Germans invaded Poland in September 1939, Alter escaped to the Russian-occupied zone. However, he was soon arrested with his associate, Henryk Erlich. They were both executed on December 4, 1941, in Kuibyshev (Ezekiel Lifschutz in EJ, 2007) . Excellent insight in to Socialist critiques of the Nazis from those who had been, until recently, inside Germany. Some writersi nclude: Martin Hart, Hans Israel, Walter Buchholz, E. Kolb, Fritz Kempf, Arthur Seehof, Fritz Dreher, etc, Includes material on Antisemitism, Zionism, the Spanish Civil War, Pacifism, etc. Sozialistische Warte was issued monthly through 1935; then biweekly and later weekly. It began in May 1934 and ceased publication in May 1940 with Volume 15. Issues for May-Oct. 1934 are called 1. Jahrgang [volume 1]. ; beginning Nov. 1934, they are called 9. Jahrgang [Vol 9], continuing the numbering of the earlier title, ISK. First Edition. Binding is Paper Wrappers. OCLC lists 20 copies worldwide, but some library holdings may be incomplete.
