Five inscribed titles late in the prolific career of staff writer of The New Yorker novelist and screenwriter Eric Hatch 1901 - 1973 inscribed to prominent resident Tracy Griswold of Litchfield CT where Hatch lived in his later years. Hatch was best known for comic novels his most consequential "1101 Park Ave 1935 which was the basis for the classic screwball comedy "My Man Godfrey" 1936 starring William Powell and Carole Lombard which he co-authored and for which he received an Oscar nomination. He then co-authored another screwball classic "Topper" 1937 starring Cary Grant and Constance Bennett. In Litchfield Hatch was active in civic and social affairs including the vibrant riding and carriage scene which is the topic of some of the books in this lot. By year titles are: THE JUDGE AND THE JUNIOR EXHIBITOR: A GUIDE TO BLUE RIBBON RIDING. NY: Duell Sloan 1964. Inscribed on the half-title.
