Jones commanded a cavalry regiment under Stuart received his promotion to brigadier general in September 1862 and was killed leading his men at Piedmont in June 1864; Hatch was given command of Banks's cavalry in the Shenandoah campaign of 1862 and was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at South Mountain. <br/><br/> unknown books
