Il vescovo promulgo' in tutta la diocesi la Festa del Sacro Cuore di Gesu' che doveva essere celebrata e festeggiata ogni anno il 'giorno decimoquarto del Mese di Gennajo' al fine di 'pacificare la giusta collera di Dio, e di far cessare il tremendo flagello'.

Rarissima prima edizione di questa monografia del medico Giuseppe Passeri della peste che colpì Tunisi tra il 1818 ed il 1820. L'opera analizza la storia delle epidemie di peste che colpirono il territorio di Tunisi nel corso della storia per studiare da testimone oculare l'ultima virulenta epidemia, descriverne il propagarsi e le cure adottate per contenere il contagio e guarire gli infetti. La grande tavola fuori testo contiene le "Osservazioni Termometriche e Meteoriche e Barometriche trasmessemi dall'illustriss. Sig. Giuseppe-Emilio Ambert Maggiore del Genio al Servizio di S. M. il Re dei Paesi Bassi, e stato in Tunisi direttore delle Fortificazioni alla Goletta. L'ultimo capitolo, scritto da Giacomo Barzellotti professore di medicina presso l'Università di Pisa che descrive lo "stato della Medicina nel Regno di Tunisi". Un leggerissimo alone al frontespizio, ininfluente e per il resto esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Raro.

Bassani, Jacopo Antonio, (1686-1747) fu prelato della Compagnia di Gesù: la sua esemplare biografia è narrata in latino dal confratello Roberti nelle prime dodici pagine del volume. Poesie edificanti, in latino e volgare, dedicate alla gioventù studiosa : lodi di Carlo Innocenzo Frugoni, poema per l'anniversario della cessazione della peste di Imola; graziosi alcuni soggetti: "Per un cagnuoletto"; "Afflitto da emicrania"; tre poesie sulla liberazione di Corfù dai Turchi. In 4° (24x18,3 cm): due tomi in un volume: (12), XII, 96, XXV, (1) pp. e 168 pp. Elegante legatura anni 30’ del XX° secolo in tutta tela foderata con carta a motivi floreali in rosso e verde e fascetta in pelle al dorso con titolo in oro. Esemplare ancora in barbe. Grande marca xilografica dello stampatore Felice Carlo Mosca sul front. del v. 1 con “Fenice tra le fiamme volta a sinistra verso il sole in cornice figurata con due putti, motto: Semper eadem” disegnata e incisa da Giovanna Pesche. Testatine, iniziali e finalini xilografici. Qualche insignificante macchiolina di foxing in poche pagine, dovute alla qualità della carta napoletana e ma nel complesso in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Seconda edizione, ma prima stampata in Italia, di questa celebre opera del grande medico francese Phileppe Hecquet. L’autore studiò medicina a Parigi e a Remis dove ottenne il titolo di dottore. Dopo aver ottenuto il titolo iniziò a praticare l’arte medica diventando presto celebre ed avendo numerosi clienti fra la grande nobiltà francese ma affiancando anche, a questa attività, una profonda riflessione religiosa che lo portò a passare molto tempo a curare i malati indigenti. Fu anche rettore dell’Università di Parigi. Grande fisiologo e patologo, le sue opere sono considerate come classici nel loro campo. Cercò di dimostrare come le cause delle malattie non fossero da ricercare solo in meri processi fisico-chimici ma anche come l’aspetto psicologico del paziente potesse influenzare la nascita ed il decorso di patologie mediche. Le sue opere rientrano anche nella bibliografia vegetariana in quanto Hecquet fu un acceso sostenitore della dieta vegetariana che considerava molto più salutare e utile di quella a base di carne . Arrivò a teorizzare che il consumo di carne fosse assolutamente non naturale per l’uomo. Quest’opera contiene il punto di vista dell’autore relativo alla fisiologia umana (prima parte) e, nella seconda parte, la descrizione delle cause delle febbri intermittenti e di varie altre patologie, con indicazioni utili alla loro prevenzione, cura con vaire indicazioni dietetiche utili ad aiutare il corpo umano a combattere le malattie. Alla fine della prima parte è presente la celebre descrizione dell’epidemia di peste che colpì la costa meridionale francese della quale, Hecquet fu testimone diretto. Seconda edizione ancora in barbe ed in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.
