A single issue of this May Day jubilee publication of the Social Democratic Workers Party of Czechoslovakia illustrated with reproductions of woodcuts by Frans Masereel 1889-1972 and political caricatures by František Bidlo 1895-1945. Published by the Central Workers' Publishing House founded by Antonin Svěcený 1871-1941 the socialist activist and eventual Senator in the Czechoslovak General Assembly representing the Social Democratic Workers Party. Frans Masereel's famous 1922 cycle Ballad of a Worker's Life is presented in the issue alongside inspirational speeches by Vaclav Patzak a leading figure of the interwar Social Democratic Worker's Party and an organizer of International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War. The communist journalist and poet Jaroslav Seifert 1901-1986 edited the issue. Seifert was also the founder of the avant-garde journal Devětsil 1920 and later a Nobel Laureate in 1984.<br /> <br /> As of October 2025 KVK OCLC show no copies of this issue in North America. unknown

This poster originates from the estate of progressive folk-rock group McKendree Spring violinist Michael Dreyfuss who played in the festival. <br /> <br /> An attractive poster featuring troubadours being towed by a camel under a moonlit sky the festival featured acts such as Kris Kristofferson New Riders of the Purple Sage Linda Ronstadt Earl Scruggs Review McKendree Spring John Prine and more. <br /> <br /> Dreyfuss pioneered the use of violins distorted by electronic and analog synthesizers counting synthesizer inventor Robert Moog amongst his close friends and McKendree Spring largely became known for the experimental sound that he helped craft. McKendree Spring's most noted work includes "God Bless the Conspiracy" "Spring Suite" and their covers of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" and Neil Young's "Down By the River." <br /> <br /> 15.5 x 20 inches rolled. These feature six by Flagg including “An American Queen;†“Putting out the Flames†with young woman tearing up photos of former beaus; “Cherries and Roses†of woman applying her makeup; “Prisoner to the Bar!†with man kneeling before his intended pleading and cupid standing by; and “The Rumble Seat†with couple riding in their Brass Era auto cupid in tow and license plate 11=1. Sarka’s illustration “An Old One Warmed Over†featuring young beautiful woman with much older man and Kimball’s “the Harvest Moon†round out the group. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Original typescript letter with autograph signature by Füreya Koral. Recipient is Turkish female painter 'Tiraje Dikmen'. 28x215 cm. In Turkish. 1 p. 22 lines. Including Koral's request the donation of a painting from painter Tiraje Dikmen for an exhibition which is organized by the Amnesty International Istanbul Section in the Bedri Rahmi Gallery between the dates of December 6-17 1979. Füreya Koral is one of the pioneering ceramics artists in Turkey. Known for her wall panels Koral worked in a variety of media such as tiles statuettes plates and also created household items. She started working on ceramics after she was diagnosed with tuberculosis while receiving treatment at a sanatorium in Switzerland. She was a self-taught artist and her works were mostly ignored during her lifetime. Seeking to push the limits of ceramics beyond its function she was inspired by the art of ancient civilizations of Turkey Mexico and East Asia-Japan in particular. Her work is commonly known to carry a mix of Western and Eastern artistic elements. Tiraje Dikmen was born in Istanbul in 1923. After finishing at Isik High School in 1940 she graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University in 1946. She continued her study in the workshop of Leopold Levy at the State Academy of Fine Arts. In 1947 Dikmen went to Paris to pursue her doctoral degree in Economics at the Faculty of Law and Economics. She continued painting at Leopold Levy's studio and studied History of Art and Museology at the Ecole du Louvre. In 1956 she had her first solo exhibition at Galerie Edouard Loeb. In 1964 she was invited to "The Origins History and Relationships of Surrealism" exhibition viewed today as one of the most important exhibitions of the history of Surrealism. Dikmen had her first solo exhibition in Turkey at the Gallery I in Istanbul in 1970. She has also participated in many group exhibitions in Paris and Ankara.
