There is also information on how to store and display the collection and the final 40 pages contain an annotated account of the chief cabinets throughout Europe. Originally from Lucca Mechetti c. 1745-1811 encountered financial troubles and was forced to sell his collection of thousands of items primarily Italian prints and paintings. In the introduction Mechetti highlights certain pieces in his collection which was apparently not for sale by auction but rather private contract. Pages 113-20 describe a large library rich in books on the arts and history. <br/> <br/> Nice copy. This copy was inscribed on the inside front wrappers to the amateur geologist Baron de Beroldingen see Zittel. Horizontal crease light old folds and modest additional wear and soil very good. The theme song of Michaux's Church of God dedicated here to Franklin D. Roosevelt who is pictured on the final page. Evangelist Michaux was known for his gospel singing prowess and was something of a television pioneer hosting a religious television show from the nation's capital in 1948-49. While Ezra Pound was incarcerated in St. Elizabeth's Hospital he included a reference to Lightfoot in his Canto 95. OCLC locates only two copies of a 1932 edition with no mention of the FDR content. The original English version went through more than 30 editions and three more Danish editions were published in 1740 1765 and finally in 1779. For two centuries it was both a popular and influential work within primarily Anglican but also protestant tradition. It was first published anonymously in 1658 with an introduction by Henry Hammond 1605-1660. The authorship was initially attributed to Lady Dorothy Pakington but the consensus view of modern scholars attributes the book to Richard Allestree. Cohen, prominent San Francisco lawyer, book collector, and leader of the Jewish community, was unjustly accused of embezzling funds which belonged to creditors of the firm of Adams & Co. , a banking house which had recently defaulted. The case involved transactions with the California Steam Navigation Company. In 1862 the case was dismissed and Cohen, who became chief counsel to the Central Pacific Railroad, was vindicated. His lawyer, Trenor W. Park, had moved from his native Vermont to California in 1852, where he was counsel to the Vigilance Committee and became involved with Fremont in the Mariposa Mine; Stanly was a North Carolina Congressman who had moved to San Francisco in the 1850's. He later became the Goddard team's chief test engineer at the Naval Research Station at Annapolis. This book "Lowell Randall: Rocket Pioneer Glimpses of a Rocket Pioneer During Various Portions of his Career" inscribed by Gold to Canadian filmmaker Michael Lennick.
