1922nc1410Corrard Pierre Modes et manières d'aujourd'hui Inconnu 1922 "UNE PROVENANCE EXCEPTIONNELLE. AN EXCEPTIONAL ORIGIN. Bon exemplaire de cette septième et dernière chemise de la collection ""Modes et manières d'aujourd'hui"", la publication du meilleur de la mode du début du XXe siècle, par les artistes l'ayant faite, au plus haut de leur art. Le projet est porté par Pierre Corrard, écrivain et éditeur de grand talent. Afin d'accompagner la révolution artistique et vestimentaire des années folles, il publie, en 1912, une première chemise, avec des illustrations de Georges Lepape. Devant l'accueil fait à cette première publication, il décide, chaque année, de proposer une chemise identique, avec des auteurs et des artistes différents. Après six volumes (un volume en 1912, un en 1913, un en 1914, un volume de guerre, couvrant les années 1914 à 1919, un volume en 1919 et un en 1920), il faut attendre 1922 pour que le septième et dernier volume soit publié. Sur un texte de Paul Valéry, Fernand Siméon propose, en 12 planches, sa vision de la mode de l'époque, en ocre jaune, bistre et noir. Cette chemise se présente comme toutes les autres de la série : sous un cartonnage fort, dont le premier plat est frappé des seuls titres et années, avec, en son centre, une illustration couleurs, les planches prennent place dans un ensemble de quatre rabats fait du même papier que celui illustrant la contre garde, et dont le motif a été dessiné par l'artiste réalisant les planches intérieures. L'ouvrage, en feuilles, débute par une page de titre reprenant l'illustration de couverture. Puis viennent les pages proposant le texte, et, après le colophon, les planches illustrées. La provenance de notre exemplaire est exceptionnelle: il provient directement de la famille Corrard. Stocké dans leur résidence, notre exemplaire est dans un bel état. Le ruban est absent. Cristal d'origine. La coiffe supérieure est malheureusement légèrement déchirée le long de l'articulation sur 1 cm, c'est à peine visible sous le cristal. Mais visible de l'intérieur. Notre exemplaire est un des 271 exemplaires numérotés sur Vélin à la cuve (sur un tirage total à 300 exemplaires). Livraison a domicile (La Poste) ou en Mondial Relay sur simple demande."

Their fashions were intended for the average American with emphasis on the more “endowed†woman and “stout†man during the Jazz Age emphasizing chic styles and well-woven fabrics. These catalogues detail the high grade work pants riding breeches denim jeans corduroy work pants along with triple-sewed work denim overalls and coats which could be purchased as well as those made out of Wabash Stripe Stifel denim cloth noted for its durability. The Rosecliff-Quaker Corporation boasted that it employed 10000 people coast to coast used only unionized labour and guaranteed its shirts for a year. Octavo 214 x 120 mm. Original leatherette wallet binder unfolding to 214 x 460 mm two folding printed card advertising panels with mounted fabric samples 20 tie and 27 hosiery 50 shirt fabric samples each 170 x 120 mm in post-binder with four interleaved printed advertisements central panel lettered in silver. Occasional old pencil annotations. Binder sturdy and still fresh all samples present occasional offsetting and soiling to card panels majority of shirt samples with original paper information slips crudely removed with resulting paper residue.
