1878388430Boston: American Art Review 1878. Unbound. Very Good. Original etching and drypoint engraving approximately 7.25 x 5 inches printed on laid paper with full margins 12 x 9 inches. Signed and dated in the plate. Some light soiling at the edges about near fine. A native New Yorker Miller began exhibiting his paintings at the National Academy of Design in 1860 and was elected National Academician in 1875. Celebrated for his painterly landscapes of his native Long Island this etching was considered by S.R. Koehler to be his best landscape etching. A fine impression published by Koehler in American Art Review circa 1881 which commissioned many important artists for original etchings and instigated an American etching revival in the 1880s.
