Mostly near fine a few very good. 1830 pp. Rafael Antonio Caldera RodrÃguez 1916-2009 was both the 56th and 63th President of Venezuela from 1969 to 1974 and again from 1994 to 1999. His election to the presidency in 1969 was followed by the first peaceful transfer of power from one party to another in Venezuela's history. Highly educated a professor of sociology at UCV and author of numeous books and papers Caldera was a cofounder of the social Christian party COPEI with which he later broke but was elected again without its affiliation shortly after the 1992 coup attempts led by Hugo Chávez whom he pardoned and who succeeded him as President in 2000. All items are first editions in wrappers varying from 16mo to quarto and by Caldera unless noted. A few in English or dual language. Kelekian was born in Kayser in modern-day Turkey began his career in Constantinople opened a gallery in Paris in 1891 and moved to New York shortly after the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Very quickly Kelekian's gallery developed clients among America's wealthiest families e.g. the Havermeyers John D. Rockefeller Jr. the Astors the Walters of Baltimore et. al. Kelekian ws primarlily responsible for building the Coptic Early Christian and Classical collections of Henry Walters later founder of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and the Gothic collection of financier and Metropolitan Museum of Art president George Blumenthal. Kelekian was equally well known as an early champion of modern art and began collecting and promoting such artists as Henri Matisse André Derain and Pablo Picasso at a very early date.
