Mourlot is known for pioneering and popularizing the art poster collaborating with prominent painters including Matisse Bonnard Miro and others. Eight hand-coloured lithographs from drawings by Raoul Dufy preserved in the original paper folder which has an explanation of the plates on the rear cover. Fashion plates of women wearing clothes designed by Doeuillet Doucet Lanvin Paquin Poiret Vionnet and Worth. Dufy's fashion illustration began in 1909 with the great French couturier Paul Poiret and continued with the Lyons-based silk manufacturer Bianchini-Ferier who invited Dufy to work on an industrial scale.The first plate is just a little rubbed at bottom edge otherwise a very good and attractive set in a very good indeed clean folder. Numbered 1269 limited facsimile edition 24 cm x 31 cm 9 1/2 x 12 inches published by Edito-Service S.A and printed in Italy on thick paper papier bouffant by Papeteries de Casteljoux. 219 loose bound pages with an extra section 'Suite' with all illustrations 'hors textes'. Both sections are enclosed in thick white portfolio paper which are in turn enclosed in a heavy green cardboard portfolio with leatherette buckram spine that slides into a green cardboard slipcase. Dorgelès' text in French Vacances Forcées a euphemism for the War years between 1940 and 1944 is adroitly complimented by 24 Dufy compositions lovingly recreated by Beltrand as color lithographs from woodcuts. The loose-bound pages and protective portfolio are in excellent - fine condition while the slipcase shows some wear and is slightly buckled on the bottom right side. <br /> <br /> Again the second section 'Suite .' is 'hors textes' so all of Dufy's wonderful images are available without text and ready to be framed.<br /> <br /> <br /> A superb portfolio.
