25952Without date but from the 1930s. No place. Not present among the twelve portraits of Best on the National Portrait Gallery inventory. A black and white collotype print covering a 13 x 17.5 cm piece of matt paper with no border. Lightly aged and in good condition apart from the thinnest of strips no more than half a centimetre deep along the top of the image taken up when the print was removed from its mount. This negligibe loss only affects the background and would be easily hidden on the photograph being mounted. A head and shoulders shot of an anxious-looking Best staring to her left with short hair style and side parting plucked eyebrows prim lips and sensible outfit against blurred background. Without date, but from the 1930s. No place. unknown
