EXTREMELY RARE! 4 out of 9 volumes from a festive Jewish prayer book (Machzor) in the Ashkenazi tradition. The book was printed in early 19th century Amsterdam, and features the original Hebrew text in large handsome letters, and below them the Yiddish translation. The book additionally features a b/w woodcuts on pre-title pages, depicting Biblical scenes. Small text decoration at the end of volumes 1 & 4. The volumes present are for the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the eve of Yom Kippur, the afternoon of Yom Kuppur and the last days of Passover. 190x115mm, [93+8]+[92]+[112]+[15+32+62] double pages. Brown leather hardcover with restored spine. Gilt decoration on cover and spine. Cover bumped at several places and slightly worn. Cover edges and corners bumped. Pages yellowing, few pages slightly creased at corners. [VOLUMES 1&4]: Half of the pages are detached from cover, but still attached to each other. [VOLUMES 1;3-4]: Cover laminated and partially detached. Sticker on endpaper. [VOLUME 2]: Small sticker on rear endpaper. Pen inscription on whitepage and title page. [SUMMARY]: Despite the aforementioned external wear, this 200 year old Mahzor is in good condition.
