First American edition, 8vo (225 x 140 mm), xvi, 439, [1]pp., text somewhat browned in places, orig. boards, upper board detached, spine perished, stitching loose, uncut. Drew, a metaphysician and one of the early Cornish Methodists, was an intimate friend of Dr. Thomas Coke and Adam Clarke. His metaphysical disquisitions obtained for him an honorary M.A. from Scotland, and the offer of a chair in the University of London, which he declined. This work was published as a successor to his very successful "Essay on the Immateriality and Immortality of the Soul". This book was not quite so popular, though Drew's limited philosophical skills probably appear to better advantage here than in the earlier work.

RARE short history of the progress of Sufi studies in Europe since the end of the 18th-century with suggestions for future work in the form of three lectures by Arthur John Arberry (1905-1969), an eminent British orientalist, whose translation of the Qur'an into English ('The Koran Interpreted') is one of the most prominent written by a non-Muslim scholar, held in esteem both by academics and English-speaking Muslim clerics. New New English Original bdg. Dust wrapper. In special commercial box. 4to. (33 x 33 cm). In Turkish. 511 p., color ills. The book titles 'Mosaics of Anatolia' is the variegated great adventure of the square that has existed on earth for thousand of years. At the same time, when each mosaic square is aligned next to each other they are like the sentences created by the words in a literary text: as an epic of the concept of depiction inspired by the myths of past civilisations. In this great adventure, the art of mosaics sometimes focused on the legends told by people, sometimes on daily life and sometimes on holy texts by tracking the past of nature at all times. A great journey in the infinity of colourful cubes. Therefore, the subjects of our book are the squares of both reknowned and unknown cultures who have settled in and emigrated from Anatolian lands. Like the diary of a traveler, we have withessed and catalogued the existence of the art of mosaics in every part of Anatolia. Each and every one of them is a meaningful visual feast telling the stories of settling and emigrating civilisations. ISBN: 9786055495107. ARCHEOLOGY Anatolian civilizations History of art Mosaic.
