182442478Unpaginated. 30 b/w etchings. Etched title and 29 plates. The images are reminiscent of but more charming than those in Cooke's "Shipping and Craft." Brewington lists Moses as an English etcher who was born in 1782 in London. He worked for the British Museum and died in 1870. Moses published books of drawings of art objects and of historical scenes throughout the first half of the 19th century. However this title is among his scarcest. The present copy contains parts 1-4 in his series of waterfront views. Each image is dated so we can trace the progression from the Thames to Sheerness to the Dockyards. As time went on he issued more prints until he was able to publish an issue with 57 etchings. The edition offered here is rare with only two copies listed on OCLC. Brewington Dictionary p. 268. Scattered foxing some pages rather grubby but still a good copy of a lovely collection of images.
