He begins with a history of the area before the church was founded and describes Topsham in 1815. He relates what is known of the earliest elders or pastors - Elihu Purrington Henry Kendal Charles Johnson George Knox and deacons Elijah White & Jabez Perkins. He tells of the revivals in 1825 1834 1835 and 1840. He ends by describing the doctrine of the church that they have always held to the truth of God's endless retribution for sin and the necessity of the Holy Spirit's work in the human heart. In a quarter calf binding with paper to the boards. Externally a little worn and rubbed. Head and tail of the spine are lifting with a small amount of loss. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine is faded. Hinges are weak. Internally binding is strained in places gatherings A and B are detached but present. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots.
